Sound Beach, NY (April 25, 2019) – According to authorities, a man from Long Island was arrested on Thursday, April 25th, for allegedly running a prostitution ring from inside his parents’ basement. Prosecutors stated that Raymond Rodio III, 47, has been accused of trafficking at least 22 women between 2014 and February 2019 in the basement of a home on Lower Rocky Point Road.
Authorities said that some of the women were being held by force and made to prostitute themselves at Rodio’s direction. Rodio would allegedly set up dates for the women to take place in the basement or motels throughout Suffolk County. The accused generally kept the women’s money, feeding them crack cocaine and heroin instead, according to police.
Rodio is being charged with sex trafficking and has pleaded not guilty to those charges. Prosecutors said that Rodio’s parents were likely unaware of their son’s activities, despite living in the residence. Rodio is currently being held on $2 million bond at this time.
