Larchmont, NY (January 28, 2019) – Police have stated that a man suffered severe burns on Monday morning, January 28, when an e-cigarette battery exploded in his pocket. Authorities reported that the incident took place along Pryer Lane at around 8:30 a.m. prompting responses from police, as well as paramedics.
According to police, the victim had been driving along the aforementioned road on his way to work when the spare battery exploded into flames in his pants pocket. Co-workers who were with the victim at the time of the incident stated that his pants immediately caught fire and to be ripped off his person.
Emergency medical crews who were called to the scene transported the severely burned victim to a local hospital to be treated. Authorities have not been able to provide any information concerning the reason for the explosion as the incident is actively being investigated.
