Hispanics and immigrants working in the state of New York’s construction industry are the most susceptible to fatal construction accidents, according to a report by the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD).
In an online report published by the Latino Post Wednesday, February 26, the CPD states that from 2003 to 2011, 60% of fatalities in construction sites across New York City involved immigrants and/or Hispanics. The online report further stated that many people from these groups are undocumented, making them reluctant to report workplace incidents due to fear of termination or deportation.
