What are the basic rights of a nursing home resident?
New York nursing home abuse attorney John Blyth explains the basic rights of nursing home residents.
Nursing homes are supposed to treat their residents with dignity, respect, and provide high-quality medical care. Unfortunately, many nursing homes in New York City fail to meet the state and federal requirements they’re expected to meet. Federal and state law provide families and their loved ones the right to voice complaints about nursing home abuse or neglect. If a resident is harmed through the negligence of a nursing home, then that person has the right to pursue legal action against the facility.
