Well, I was – I’ve been an operating engineer and was actually just got my 25-year pin. I’ve been a member of the Operating Engineers for 25 years, something I’m very proud of. Before that, I had a great role model – my father was a very well-respected labor leader who just recently passed away.

But a lot of the people that we work with, in some way or another, sometimes I know them. I know them from any of the union meetings, I grew up with a lot of these people, gone to the strikes, gone to the union meetings, but an active participant in the unions that I work with, and especially with my home local, the Operating Engineers.

Actions under the New York State labor law can fail or succeed on very minute details and various minor nuances that can determine what defines a covered worker, can define what covered work is being done. And having worked in the field and having actually worked in the Union while going to school, and from a young age, I know exactly the type of work that’s being done by a lot of our clients.

I’ve been exposed to that, I’ve actually worked in construction for a while. I worked primarily in buildings with stationary engineers, so I know a lot of the type of work that’s done. And I know what could be considered routine maintenance as opposed to repair or demolition, anything outside of routine maintenance, any of the covered areas that need to be defined to successfully resolve a New York State labor law claim.
