What Should You Do If You’ve Been Involved in a Car Accident?
Halina Radchenko, a car accident lawyer with the New York firm Hach & Rose, LLP, outlines what you should do if you were involved in a collision.
After you’ve been involved in a motor vehicle accident, it is important for you to contact your attorney and discuss what happened. However, there are certain things that it’s important that you do at the scene of the accident.
First and foremost, if you’ve been involved in an accident, get out and take photographs of the property damage to your own vehicle as well as the other vehicle involved in the accident. It is also important to take the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of any persons who tell you that they have witnessed the accidents, as they may become important later if you file a lawsuit.
Finally, it is also important that you contact a lawyer because you only have thirty days to file a no-fault application, triggering your ability to have medical health insurance coverage to treat for the injuries that you sustained as a result of the accident.
