Rochester, NY (June 7, 2019) – Authorities have announced that the registered sex offender who posed as a college student in order to sexually assault a woman has pleaded guilty to the charges against him. 21-year-old David Castaneda will likely face seven years in prison followed by 15 years of post-release supervision, according to officials.
Prosecutors stated that Castaneda sexually assaulted a victim back in October 2018 by first posing as a College at Brockport student online. Authorities said that at the time of the aforementioned incident, Castaneda was already a registered level 2 sex offender. Castaneda did not register his social media accounts and was able to stay under the radar by pretending to be a college student.
No further information has been provided regarding the nature of the crimes committed by Castaneda.
