Midwood, Brooklyn, NY – Baby Among 12 Hospitalized Following Massive Three-House Fire Midwood, Brooklyn, NY (June 13, 2019) – A total of 12 people, including a small baby, were taken to the hospital on Thursday morning, June 13
th, following a massive fire that burned through three homes. Officials stated that the four-alarm fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. at a home located at 1488 East 17
th Street. By the time firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after 4:00 a.m., the enormous blaze had spread to the neighboring homes on either side house where the fire originated. Altogether, 170 firefighters from 40 fire units arrived to battle the blaze, while 25 EMS units also responded to the scene. According to officials, all of the people from the home where the fire began were able to make it out safely. However, nine civilians, including a baby, and three firefighters were reported to have been hospitalized for at least minor injuries. At this time, there is a reason to believe that an
explosion may have caused the fire, although the incident is currently under investigation.
