Daily Harvest Recall Attorneys

Daily Harvest issued a voluntary recall of its French Lentil + Leek Crumbles products on June 23, 2022, after more than 500 customers reported falling ill with gastrointestinal symptoms, leading to significantly elevated liver enzymes. In many cases, patients reported needing to have their gallbladders removed.

An investigation revealed that many affected patients had consumed Daily Harvest’s French Lentil + Leek Crumbles before becoming sick. Patients reported experiencing symptoms such as severe vomiting, dark urine, itching, stomach pain, nausea, headaches, and fever. Many of these patients now face steep medical bills from ER visits and hospital stays.

Daily Harvest has relied on a strong network of influencers to market its products. Multiple influencers who became sick after consuming the French Lentil + Leek Crumbles are alleging that, due to Daily Harvest’s underwhelming response to the outbreak, they feel obligated to warn consumers about the present risks of consuming this product.

Did you become ill after consuming Daily Harvest’s French Lentil + Leek Crumbles? If so, you might be entitled to take legal action against Daily Harvest for their negligence and pursue compensation for medical bills, lost income, and more. Product manufacturers are responsible for manufacturing and marketing safe products for human use and consumption. When companies fail to uphold their duty of care, they can be held liable in civil court.

UPDATE: Daily Harvest CEO Says Ingredient Tara Flour Is Responsible For Illnesses

Recently, Daily Harvest CEO Rachel Drori released a statement saying that the company believes an ingredient, tara flour, was responsible for causing the intense gastrointestinal problems that customers have experienced. Tara flour is made from the seeds of tara trees, a native species of Peru. This is one of a dozen ingredients listed in the French Lentil + Leek Crumbles products that were recently recalled by Daily Harvest.

“Our extensive investigation has involved many experts analyzing data from all sources. We have only used this ingredient in French Lentil + Leek Crumbles and we are no longer sourcing from this producer who does not provide any ingredients for our 140+ other items. This was the first and only time we’ve used tara flour, which has been available and used in the North American market as a plant-based source of protein prior to our use. Our investigation team will continue working with the FDA, the tara flour producer, and others to help determine what specifically made people sick,” says Drori of the results of the internal investigation.

Which Products Were Recalled?

All French Lentil + Leek Crumbles on the market have been voluntarily recalled. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), approximately 28,000 units of the recalled product were distributed from April 28 to June 17, 2022, in the continental United States. Products were distributed through various channels, including online sales and home delivery, at a Daily Harvest retail location in Chicago, Illinois, and a pop-up shop in Los Angeles, California. Some consumers also received samples of the product.

French Lentil + Leek Crumbles are sold frozen in white, 12 oz. bags. According to the FDA, all lot codes of the product are impacted. Customers who received the product via home delivery, and other customers for whom Daily Harvest had contact details, were notified of the recall.

What Compensation Is Available?
