Injuries to Elevator Workers

Individuals who work on elevators and in elevator shafts for a living are regularly exposed to a number of hazards while on the job. While there are a number of laws and safety regulations that are meant to keep working environments safe for these individuals, the sad reality is that in far too many instances, these regulations are not followed or upheld, resulting in dangerous working conditions and serious injuries. While it may be possible for injured workers to pursue workers’ compensation benefits to cover the costs of their injuries, unfortunately, this amount of compensation may not be enough to cover a victim’s full range of financial needs. In these situations, an injured worker may be able to file a personal injury claim to pursue the full compensation they need. One killed when truck crashed into Simeon’s in Ithaca

One individual died and at least seven others incurred minor injuries after a tractor-trailer hauling cars crashed into Simeon’s restaurant in downtown Ithaca on the afternoon of June 20, the Green Bay Press Gazette reported.

The Ithaca police have yet to release the names of the victims or driver involved. The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and was taken under police custody to be investigated. A pastry chef from a nearby restaurant was sitting outside at the time of the accident and witnessed the event. She did not hear the brakes of the truck; to her, it appeared that it drove directly into the restaurant without stopping.

When the four-story building was hit by the large commercial truck, the front corner of the restaurant collapsed. Later, a crane demolished part of the roof. A city engineer and private engineer firm are inspecting the damage to the structure.

The attorneys at Hach & Rose, LLP, send their deepest condolences to the friends and family who are suffering from this tragic accident.

Mother of three suing hospital for forcing her to undergo C-section

Thirty-five-year-old Rinat Dray, a mother of three boys, is suing a New York hospital for giving her a C-section against her will, KHOU reported on June 18.

According to Dray, in 2011 she told her physician that she wanted to undergo natural labor through a procedure called vaginal birth after cesarean, or VBAC, because she experienced difficult recovery periods after her first two babies were delivered by C-section. However, after several hours of labor, Dray said her doctor pressured her into a C-section out of impatience. She claims he said, “I don’t have all day for you.”

Because she was given a C-section regardless of her protests, Dray is suing the hospital and doctor for negligence, malpractice, and lack of informed consent.

Ikeda also accused Antonio Luis Rosa, the hairdresser in question, of being under the influence of drugs while styling her hair.
