Freeport, NY – Two Workers Injured Following Fall from Ladder on Long Island
Freeport, NY (July 1, 2019) – A serious construction accident occurred on Monday, July 1st, leaving two workers with injuries, according to authorities. The accident happened at a new home that is currently under construction on Bayview Avenue in the Freeport neighborhood on Long Island.
Authorities stated that the two workers had been using a ladder as a sort of makeshift scaffolding when they fell. Both firefighters and police were dispatched to the location of the incident, where they transported both injured parties to South Nassau Hospital. Using a ladder as a scaffold is a common occurrence in construction; however, authorities stated that it was not filed or permitted by the company in charge of the new build.
According to police, one victim, identified only as a 17-year-old male, has been listed in critical condition. The other victim, identified only as a male, sustained non-life threatening injuries, but no further information has been provided at this time.
