Ridge, NY – Two Officers Hurt After Man Intentionally Strikes them with Van
Ridge, NY (June 21, 2019) – Two officers wearing plain clothes at the time were reported to have suffered injuries during a traffic stop on Thursday evening, June 20th, in the town of Ridge. Authorities stated that the incident took place on Smith Road at approximately 6:25 p.m.
Investigators stated that Robert McDowell, of Bohemia, was pulled over by the officers when it was discovered that he was driving with a suspended license. According to authorities, McDowell refused to exit the van he was operating and continued to put the vehicle in drive, purposefully striking the officers as he fled the scene.
The officers attempted to chase after the vehicle when they witnessed him throwing contraband from the window. He was eventually apprehended, and both officers were reported to have sustained at least minor injuries.
