Shoreham, NY – Three High School Students Injured in Collision

Shoreham, NY (June 14, 2019) – Police stated that a serious motor vehicle accident left three high school seniors with various injuries on Thursday night, June 13th. The collision took place at the intersection of Miller Avenue and Route 25A at an unspecified time.

According to authorities, three seniors from Shoreham-Wading River High School were traveling south along Miller Avenue in a Hyundai Elantra when they attempted to turn left onto Route 25A. While trying to turn, the Hyundai was struck by a Honda that is believed to have run a red light at the intersection.

Melissa Marchese, 18, was a passenger in the Hyundai and was promptly airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital. She is currently listed in serious condition. One other passenger, as well as the driver, identified as 18-year-old Caroline Tyburski and 17-year-old Evan Flannery, respectively, were both hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.

Michael Troiano, 34, of Ridge, was identified as the driver of the Honda who also suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. No further information has been released.
