West Point, NY – Update: Identity of Cadet Killed in Accident Released

West Point, NY (June 7, 2019) – The U.S. Military Academy has now released the identity of the cadet who was tragically killed in the vehicle rollover accident that happened on Thursday, June 6 and left 21 others injured. 22-year-old Cadet Christopher J. Morgan, of West Orange, NJ, sadly lost his life in the accident which took place just off of Route 293 at around 6:45 a.m.

Authorities stated that a Light Medium Tactical Vehicle carrying 20 cadets and two soldiers rolled over along a dirt road near Camp Natural Bridge during a training exercise through a wooded area. Emergency medical responders were dispatched to the scene where they attended to Morgan who suffered severe injuries. Unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The other 21 individuals were transported to hospitals where they were treated and released. The cause of the accident is actively under investigation.
