Ramapo, NY – Man Killed and Brother Injured while Crossing Street on Lawnmower near Sloatsburg

Ramapo, NY (May 20, 2019) – On Sunday night, May 19th, a man was reported to have been killed and his brother suffered injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street on a lawnmower. The incident was reported to have taken place around 9:00 p.m. on Route 17 near Sloatsburg.

According to authorities, the two brothers were attempting to cross Route 17 in a lawnmower when they were struck by a vehicle. The collision resulted in the presence of police and emergency medical crews at the scene.

29-year-old Richard Mackey was stated to have died from his injuries suffered in the incident. At this time, the victim’s brother, who is also 29, remains hospitalized with injuries that have been classified as serious. The driver of the vehicle involved, identified only as a 49-year-old man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
