Corning, NY – Man Charged After Fatal Fire That Killed Grandmother

Corning, NY (May 19, 2019) – Around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, responders were called to the scene of a fatal fire that took the life of a grandmother.

Police say that one man was charged with manslaughter after starting a fire while attempting to make crystal meth. Crews responded to the structure fire, located at an undisclosed location, early in the morning.

Hours after the fire, one person’s body was discovered inside the structure. Police identified her as 82-year-old Gladys Ann Willow, who tragically passed away during the blaze.

On Wednesday, the woman’s grandson was arrested. He has since been identified as Justin Gause, who was charged with manslaughter, reckless endangerment, and manufacturing methamphetamine.

The investigation continues at this time.
