Rochester, NY – Man Guilty of Flying to Rochester from California for Sex with 12-Year-Old
Rochester, NY (May 14, 2019) – Police have announced that a man from California who traveled to Rochester in an effort to have sex with a 12-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to the charges against him. Gabriel Murillo, 44, of San Bernardino County, CA, pleaded guilty to the charge of attempted online enticement of a minor on Tuesday, May 14th, according to authorities.
Investigators stated that, between April 2018 and February 2019, Murillo engaged in sexually explicit conversations with a person who he thought was a 12-year-old girl via the social media app Kik Messenger. Murillo believed he was communicating with a minor named Hannah in the town of Avon and flew from Los Angeles to Rochester in February to meet the child for sex.
The girl Murillo was trying to meet was actually an undercover officer with the New York State Police and the suspect was immediately arrested at the airport. Murillo faces 10 years to life in prison, as well as a $250,000 fine and a lifetime of supervised release. He will be sentenced on August 6th.
