Orchard Park, NY – Worker Critically Injured in Fire at Buffalo & Orchard Park Topsoil
Orchard Park, NY (April 25, 2019) – Orchard Park police were promptly called to the scene of a workplace accident/fire that occurred on Wednesday afternoon, April 24th, and resulted in the serious injuries of one worker at Buffalo & Orchard Park Topsoil. The incident took place after an explosion was reported to have occurred at the facility around 1:00 p.m., according to police.
According to investigators, the explosion occurred due to an accident that took place with an acetylene torch. Shortly after the explosion, the male victim, identified only as a 33-year-old worker, was reported to have been seen covered in flames. Emergency medical crews accompanied police and firefighters at the scene, where they transported the man to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
Altogether, eight fire departments responded to the incident which resulted in a total loss of the building. At this time, there has been no further word concerning the exact condition of the victim, although police stated that he suffered burns. The incident is under investigation.
