Amherst, NY – Three Injured in Accident Involving Police Car

Amherst, NY (April 24, 2019) – A marked Amherst police vehicle was reported to have been involved in an injurious collision on Tuesday evening, April 23rd. The accident was stated to have happened around 6:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Eggert Road, according to authorities.

For reasons that are actively being investigated, a police officer in a marked vehicle collided with another car at the aforementioned location. Emergency medical responders were immediately dispatched to the scene where they transported one Amherst police officer to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital to be treated for at least minor injuries.

Two passengers who were inside the other vehicle involved were promptly taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where they were treated for at least minor injuries as well. At this time, it is unknown as to whether or not the police car had its lights or sirens activated at the time of the crash and the official cause remains under investigation.
