Rosebank, Staten Island, NY – Man Seriously Injured in Bicycle Accident at Construction Site
Rosebank, Staten Island, NY (April 23, 2019) – A man was reported to have been critically injured following a bicycle accident that took place Tuesday afternoon, April 23rd. The incident was stated to have occurred at 3:09 p.m. near the intersection of Wigham Street and Maryland Avenue for reasons that are actively being investigated.
According to an NYPD spokesman, the victim, identified only as a man in his 40s, crashed into a metal grate at a construction site near the aforementioned intersection. The man was reported to have lost control of the bike for unknown reasons. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where they transported the victim to Staten Island University Hospital with critical head trauma.
Signs indicate that National Grid is working along Maryland Avenue. However, a spokesperson for the company has not returned any requests for comment at this time. The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is currently in charge of the investigation.
