Williamstown, NY – Man Arrested After Causing Injurious Collision and Fleeing Scene
Williamstown, NY (April 23, 2019) – According to police, a man has been arrested after causing a head-on collision and then fleeing the scene on Sunday, April 21st. According to authorities, the accident happened around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 13 and McConnell Road.
Investigators were able to determine that a pickup truck being driven by 21-year-old Hunter O. Grass, of Westdale, had been traveling south along McConnell Road when he left the roadway, drove through a grassy area, and entered the northbound lane of Route 13. Grass subsequently collided head-on with a 2004 Saturn being driven by 31-year-old Joshua E. Carpenter, who had two child passengers ages 7 and 10.
Police stated that Grass fled the scene on foot immediately after the collision. The suspect was located hiding inside the bed of a pickup truck on Miller Road in Westdale following a three-hour manhunt. Emergency medical crews arrived at the crash site where they transported Carpenter and the two young children to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. They are currently being treated for internal injuries.
