Junius, NY – 6-Year-Old Killed and Three Others Injured in Crash with Flatbed Truck on Rte 318
Junius, NY (April 22, 2019) – A serious and tragically fatal car accident with a flatbed truck was reported to have taken place around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, April 20th. The crash happened along Route 318 at the intersection with Burgess Road, according to New York State Police.
Authorities stated that 26-year-old Mary Taylor, of Seneca Falls, had been traveling along Route 318 with her three daughters; Camyra Watts, 6, Tamyah, 3, and Capria, 11 months. Ms. Taylor slowed down in an attempt to make a left turn onto Burgess Road when she was rear-ended by a flatbed truck registered to Finger Lakes Dairy Services. Police and emergency medical crews, including a medical helicopter, were dispatched to the crash site.
Mary Taylor and 6-year-old Camyra Watts were both transported to Geneva Hospital, where Camyra was tragically pronounced deceased. Taylor suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both of the other children, Tamyah and Capria, were immediately airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital. Their injuries are considered serious at this time. The truck operator, 19-year-old Meroe Hurst, of Seneca Falls, was uninjured.
The investigation into this accident is currently being conducted.
