Batavia, NY – Local Man Guilty of Watching Child Pornography at Library
Batavia, NY (April 18, 2019) – On Thursday, April 18th, police were able to confirm that a man from Batavia has pleaded guilty to viewing child pornography inside of a local library. 55-year-old Robert Ray Richmond was arrested after staff at a public library in Batavia had witnessed him using one of the computers to watch child pornography, according to authorities.
Investigators who were alerted to the incident say that law enforcement immediately seized the computer that Richmond had been using after he left the library. Following a thorough forensic examination, police determined that at least seven of the images that Richmond had downloaded met the precise definition of child pornography.
Richmond was arrested immediately following the investigation and has now been reported to have pleaded guilty to the charges against him. The suspect faces up to 10 years in prison, as well as a $250,000 fine. Richmond will be sentenced at 2:00 p.m. on August 27th.
