Brooklyn, NY – Bicyclist Struck and Killed by Box Truck

Brooklyn, NY (April 18, 2019) – According to police, a bicyclist was tragically hit and killed by a box truck while riding along 47th Street in Brooklyn on Wednesday evening, April 17th. The fatal accident was reported to have taken place at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the vicinity of 17th Avenue, according to authorities.

26-year-old Pedro Tepozteco, of Sunset Park, was stated to have been riding his bicycle down the aforementioned road when a 2017 Hino box truck pulled up alongside him and attempted to pass the cyclist. Unfortunately, the one-way street does not allow very much room, and the passenger-side rear tires of the truck ultimately struck Tepozteco, throwing him to the ground.

Emergency medical responders immediately transported Tepozteco to Maimonides Medical Center for treatment. However, he was pronounced deceased a short time later. The unidentified 29-year-old truck driver remained at the scene and is not currently facing any charges.
