Rochester, NY – Firefighter Injured After Falling Through Floor at House Fire

Rochester, NY (April 14, 2019) – A firefighter was responding to a house fire this morning around 2:00 a.m. on Seward Street when he fell through a floor and was injured.

Many firefighters responded to the fire and saw smoke coming out of the two-story home. Firefighters worked to contain the fire to the rear portion of the home.

Shortly after fighting the fire, a mayday was declared. A firefighter became trapped after falling through a floor in the home. The firefighter was extricated by a crew working in the area.

The firefighter, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital with a leg injury. He will be off duty for some time.

The investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
