Ithaca, NY – Driver Airlifted to Hospital After Four-Car Crash on Route 13
Ithaca, NY (April 12, 2019) – A medical helicopter had to be called to the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision that took place along Route 13 on Friday afternoon, April 12th. According to authorities, the crash occurred around 2:00 p.m. between North Triphammer Road and Warren Road, prompting responses from police, medical crews, and fire crews.
At this time, a vehicle is believed to have triggered the multi-car crash after attempting to merge from the driving lane into the passing lane on Route 13, subsequently crashing into another vehicle. The merging vehicle was then reported to have drifted across the median and into the southbound lane, where it crashed head-on into two other vehicles.
Emergency responders were immediately summoned to the scene where a medical helicopter was called to airlift the driver of the merging vehicle to Upstate Medical Center. An unspecified number of other parties were also stated to have sustained at least minor injuries, although their current conditions have not been reported.
