Rochester, NY – Update: Authorities Identify Officer Injured in Crash During Chase into Gates

Rochester, NY (April 11, 2019) – The officer who was injured following a motor vehicle collision that occurred after a police chase from Rochester to Gates has been identified by authorities. Police stated that Officer Karyn Bower was injured during the chase that happened on Wednesday afternoon, April 10th.

According to authorities, two 15-year-old suspects were reported to have stolen a vehicle from a 72-year-old woman on Garland Avenue. Officers then spotted the car on Fulton Avenue and after attempting to pull the vehicle over, a high-speed chase ensued which ended in a collision with another vehicle at the intersection of Buffalo Road and Howard Road in the town of Gates.

During the pursuit, one of the police vehicles involved ended up crashing into a pole and catching on fire. That vehicle was operated by Officer Karyn Bower who was reported to have sustained a broken wrist. She was treated at a nearby hospital for her injuries and released.
