Queens, NY – Motorcycle Crash on Belt Parkway Claims Life of Off-Duty NYPD Officer
Queens, NY (April 11, 2019) – Authorities stated that an off-duty NYPD officer was tragically killed in a motorcycle crash that occurred early Thursday morning, April 11th, on the Belt Parkway. According to police, the accident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the parkway near Merrick Boulevard.
The crash, which took place for reasons that have not been confirmed, happened near the Queens–Nassau County border and claimed the life of an unidentified 42-year-old NYPD officer. The officer was operating a 2011 Yamaha motorcycle when he lost control and crashed for unknown reasons, prompting responses from police and paramedics.
The victim was immediately rushed to Franklin General Hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead. More information will be made available as details are released.
