Manhattan, NY – Update: Construction Worker Killed by Falling Brick Identified
Manhattan, NY (April 9, 2019) – The identity of the man who was tragically killed in a construction accident on Monday, April 8th, has now been released, along with other new details concerning the fatal incident. According to police, the construction worker, identified as 51-year-old Nelson Salinas, was working as a window washer on scaffolding alongside one other person when the incident occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m.
Authorities stated that Salinas and one other person were working on a building located on 50th Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue when a brick fell off the building and struck Salinas in the head. The individual working alongside Salinas was not struck or injured in the accident.
Emergency medical crews who were called to the scene transported Salinas to a nearby hospital, where he was immediately admitted in critical condition. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead a short time later. The events that led to this incident are likely being investigated at this time.
