Central Islip, NY – Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Suffolk Avenue
Central Islip, NY (April 7, 2019) – Around 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, a fatal pedestrian accident took place as a man was crossing the street and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
The accident took place just east of Lowell Avenue. The man was walking across the street at Suffolk Avenue when he was suddenly and unexpectedly struck by a 2011 Toyota driving through the area.
The pedestrian suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Next-of-kin is still being notified of the accident, and so his name has not been released.
The driver of the Toyota, however, was identified as 41-year-old Michael Torres. He was not injured.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
