East Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY – Update: Victim of Fatal Crash at Intersection Identified
East Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY (April 3, 2019) – Police have now released the identity of the man who was killed in a crash that also seriously injured two others on Tuesday afternoon, April 2nd. 19-year-old Claudio Poggy was the driver of the silver Mercedes who crashed at the intersection of Avenue D and Kings Highway around 4:30 p.m., according to authorities.
Police stated that Poggy had been traveling north along Kings Highway with two passengers when he hit the divider in the street and crashed into a tree for unknown reasons. Emergency medical crews were immediately called to the scene along with police as they arrived to evaluate the incident and assist the victims.
Poggy was tragically pronounced dead at the scene and his two passengers, ages 16 and 19, were promptly taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. The 16-year-old sustained serious body trauma and has been listed in critical condition, while the 19-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Neither of the injured passengers has been identified and the cause of the accident remains under investigation at this time.
