Commack, NY – Two Officers Injured During Crash Following Police Chase

Commack, NY (April 3, 2019) – Two police officers were reported to have suffered injuries after a reckless and allegedly intoxicated driver led a nearly hour-long car chase through Long Island on Wednesday, April 3rd. Officers stated that the pursuit began at 2:23 a.m. in Port Jefferson after the suspect refused to pull over for law enforcement.

Police were reported to have chased the driver along the Nesconset Highway before the pursuit ended up on residential streets. According to authorities, the suspect crashed into three police cars on the Sunken Meadow Parkway, just south of Veteran’s Highway, at approximately 3:10 p.m.

The suspect was hospitalized and taken into custody immediately following the crash. Two officers suffered at least minor injuries and were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated. The identity of the suspect has not been released but authorities stated that he is being charged with driving while intoxicated among other pending charges.
