Rochester, NY – Registered Sex Offender Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

Rochester, NY (April 2, 2019) – On Tuesday, April 2nd, police reported that a 47-year-old man, who had already been a registered sex offender, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography. Scott Wilbert is now going to spend a minimum of 15 years in prison for his crimes, which stem from the sexual exploitation of innocent children.

According to federal prosecutors, Wilbert was arrested after it was discovered that he had been sending child pornography to another computer user in an online chat site via his computer’s web camera. Further investigation into Wilbert revealed that he was a registered sex offender because of a prior conviction for sexually abusing a child.

Officers executed a search warrant of Wilbert’s home on Garson Avenue back in February of 2016. Officers obtained a laptop and SD cards containing thousands of videos and images of child pornography. Police stated that some of the images included the sexual abuse of children as young as toddlers.
