Brooklyn, NY – NYPD officer Struck and Injured by Car in Borough Park
Brooklyn, NY (April 2, 2019) – According to authorities, an NYPD officer suffered a serious leg injury after being struck by a car on Tuesday, April 2nd. Authorities stated that the accident occurred as tens of thousands of people filled the streets to pay their respects to a rabbi who passed away on Monday.
Police were dispatched to the areas of 52nd Street to 61st Street and 12th Avenue to 16th Avenue in Borough Park in order to conduct crowd control. During the massive funeral, one of the many NYPD police officers at the location was hit by a motor vehicle and reported to have suffered a leg injury. Emergency medical crews at the scene immediately transported the officer to a nearby hospital. The officer’s injuries are considered non-life-threatening at this time.
Additionally, one other officer was also injured after a drone that was being used during the funeral ran out of gas and struck the victim in the head. That officer’s condition is unknown. Police are actively looking into the events that led to the car/pedestrian accident.
