Scotia, NY – Contractor Arrested and Charged with Sexual Abuse of a Child

Scotia, NY (March 22, 2019) – On Friday, March 22nd, police announced the arrest of a man for the sexual abuse of a child younger than 11-years-old, according to authorities. 26-year-old Zachary Cota was reported to have been arrested and charged with two accounts of first-degree sexual abuse, as well as other charges.

Authorities have stated that the abuse occurred while Cota was working at a home in Rotterdam as a contractor. While the specific time frame of the incident has not been provided, police reported that Cota had sexual contact with a child under 11-years-old during his time working at the home.

The charges against Cota include two counts of sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child, and sexual contact with a child less than 11-years-old. Cota has been arraigned in the Town of Rotterdam Court and transported to jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. An order of protection has been issued.
