Erwin, NY – One Killed in Crash Between Vehicle and Addison Central School Bus
Erwin, NY (March 20, 2019) – Around 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning, March 20th, State Police responded to a serious motor vehicle accident involving an Addison Central School District bus which occurred for unknown reasons. According to authorities, the collision took place in the east and westbound lanes of Route 417.
Police stated that a vehicle, which had been traveling westbound along the aforementioned roadway, veered into the oncoming lane for unclear reasons. The vehicle subsequently collided head-on with a school bus carrying a driver and 10 children. Police and emergency medical crews were dispatched to the scene, where they pronounced the driver of the passenger vehicle deceased due to severe injuries.
EMS at the scene were reported to have attended to all 10 children and reported no serious injuries; however, the young students were taken to Corning Guthrie Hospital. Route 417 remained closed for several hours, and the investigation into this accident is ongoing.
