Farmingdale, NY – Elderly Woman Struck and Killed by SUV in Parking Lot
Farmingdale, NY (March 14, 2019) – On Wednesday morning, March 13th, authorities were alerted to the occurrence of a serious accident that tragically claimed the life of an elderly woman. 92-year-old Lorraine Richter, of Bethpage, was reported to have been struck by an SUV around 10:30 a.m., resulting in fatal injuries.
According to police, the deadly incident took place in the parking lot of a physical therapy center located on Main Street. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the SUV had been backing out of a parking space when they struck Richter for unverified reasons.
Emergency medical crews arrived at the scene along with police where they immediately transported Richter to a local hospital. Tragically, she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police are likely to be involved in a detailed investigation into the events that led to this incident.
