East New York, Brooklyn, NY – Man Struck and Killed by Vehicle that Fled the Scene
East New York, Brooklyn, NY (March 13, 2019) – A pedestrian was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident that was reported to have happened on Tuesday night, March 12th, according to police. The victim, identified as 51-year-old Bobbie Lewis, was hit by a vehicle while walking across Linden Boulevard, just shortly before midnight.
Police stated that Lewis had been hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had been traveling westbound along the aforementioned road. The driver of the Jeep did not stop to offer assistance or cooperate with authorities. Emergency medical crews were summoned to the scene along with police and Lewis was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
43-year-old Rodney Mondesir was later picked up and arrested after police found the abandoned Jeep at the intersection of McClancy Place and Jerome Street. At this time, the investigation into the collision is ongoing.
