Binghamton, NY – One of Two Teen Girls Struck by Vehicle Dies at Hospital
Binghamton, NY (March 13, 2019) – A 16-year-old student at Binghamton High School has tragically died due to the injuries she suffered after being struck by a motor vehicle on Monday afternoon, March 11th. According to police, 16-year-old Harper Stantz had been walking home after playing tennis with 19-year-old Britney Laserinko when the two girls were struck by an out-of-control vehicle.
The incident was reported to have taken place in the vicinity of Recreation Park on the city’s west side, prompting responses from police and emergency medical crews. Both victims were immediately rushed to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City with serious injuries. Authorities confirmed that Stantz has since died at the hospital, while Laserinko remains under medical observation at this time.
The vehicle involved in the accident has been confirmed as a Jeep Wrangler operated by Kevin Wilcox, 33, of Harpursville. Wilcox has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicular assault. No further details have been released.
