Central Islip, NY (March 12, 2019) – On Tuesday, March 12th, police stated that 63-year-old Kurt Desch, of Northport, a former school teacher at Eastern Suffolk Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), on charges for possessing hundreds of videos and images of child pornography. Desch admitted that he began visiting a child pornography website while he was still employed as an educator about eight years ago.
Police arrested Desch after discovering the pornographic materials on his home computer. The arrest happened when police officers from the Computer Crimes Unit arrived at his home just shortly after 7:00 a.m., according to detectives who investigated the case.
Desch pled not guilty to the charges after he was arraigned on Tuesday afternoon. According to his attorney, Desch has had no prior encounters with law enforcement, and he was remanded to jail on $35,000 cash bail. Desch is due back in court on Friday but no further information has been released.
