Stockholm, NY – Ogdensburg Police Officer Arrested on Rape Charges

Stockholm, NY (March 11, 2019) – The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a former Ogdensburg police officer, identified as 25-year-old Joseph Edward Pritty, of Potsdam, for third-degree rape. The arrest was made on Saturday, March 9th, for an incident that was reported to have occurred on Friday, March 1st.

According to authorities, Pritty engaged in sexual intercourse with a female without her consent. The alleged rape did not occur due to the victims’ incapacitation, although the specific details surrounding the incident have not been made public at this time.

Pritty was arraigned in the town of Stockholm shortly after his arrest, and he was immediately remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility. Pritty posted cash bail shortly after arriving at the correctional facility and is due back in court at a later date.
