Annsville, NY – Teen Student Struck by Car at School Bus Stop

Annsville, NY (March 7, 2019) – A 13-year-old student was reported to have been hit by a vehicle at a school bus stop on Thursday morning, March 7th, according to police. The accident took place at the intersection of Glen Ridge Drive and Glenmore Road at 8:51 a.m.

Authorities stated that the victim, identified only as a 13-year-old female student, had been walking across the street towards a Camden Central School District school bus at the time of the incident. The school bus had its red lights activated and stop signs out when 39-year-old Christy M. Vongkhamchanh, of Taberg, traveling in a 2015 Chrysler, failed to stop and subsequently struck the teen with the front of the vehicle.

According to authorities, the teen had been hit by the lower-passenger side of the windshield, resulting in at least minor injuries. She was immediately transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital to be treated for any serious wounds. Her current condition has not been stated. Vongkhamchanh was ticketed for speeding and failure to stop for a school bus.
