Altona, NY – Worker Killed in Logging Accident on Atwood Road

Altona, NY (March 6, 2019) – State police responded to a fatal work accident in the North Country after a man was tragically struck and killed by a falling tree while performing work duties. The deadly accident was reported to have taken place at 11:24 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5th, in the woods behind 240 Atwood Road.

Troopers were called to the scene where a logger, identified as David V. Driscoll, 58, of Milton, VT, after an unidentified party reported finding him unconscious and not breathing at the aforementioned location. Emergency medical personnel accompanied police where they attempted to revive Mr. Driscoll but were sadly unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Driscoll’s body was transported to a Plattsburg hospital, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. The incident appears to be an accident at this time, although authorities are currently conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
