Springfield Gardens, NY – Young Boy Killed in Deadly Fire in Queens Home

Springfield Gardens, NY (March 3, 2019) – An 8-year-old boy was killed in a deadly fire that tore through a Queens home early this morning.

The fire broke out in the two-story home located on 160th Street and 140th Avenue around 2:30 a.m. The fire was under control about an hour after it broke out.

The victim was an 8-year-old boy identified as Tighani Jones, who firefighters found unresponsive and unconscious. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Seven other people received a variety of injuries and were taken to the Long Island Jewish Medical Center for treatment.

Fire marshals believe that the fire started due to a candle. The incident is still under investigation at this time.
