Williamsburg, NY – One Killed in Fatal Bicycle Crash Involving Tanker Truck
Williamsburg, NY (March 2, 2019) – In Brooklyn, police say that a fatal bicycle crash took place involving a silver tanker truck that then fled the scene without rendering aid on Thursday night.
Police spoke with many locals, who claim that it gets very dark in the area where the accident took place on Broadway, around Marcy Avenue and Rodney Street. They also said that there is a problem with speeding vehicles in the area.
Multiple friends say that the bicyclist was a bike messenger. Surveillance video was obtained in the area showing the accident, which captured the truck seconds before it struck her and kept driving.
The cyclist tragically lost her life at the scene of the accident. Transportation Alternatives in the area said that she was the fifth cyclist killed in that area since the beginning of 2019.
Police are still searching for the driver and continue their investigation into the accident.
