Manhattan, NY – Police Arrest Woman for Pedestrian Crash Injuring Officer
Manhattan, NY (March 2, 2019) – In Manhattan, a woman was arrested following a pedestrian crash that took place on Thursday night on FDR Drive and caused injuries to an officer.
Around 9:00 p.m. near 96th Street and Second Avenue, police attempted to pull over a vehicle. When officers got out of their vehicles and headed toward the vehicle, they found that the BMW had tinted windows and a strong smell of marijuana was coming from the vehicle.
The driver sped away from the scene, causing the driver to strike one of the officers on his left elbow. The other received an injury to his hand.
Officers stopped the vehicle again at 15th Street, where the driver then reversed and struck the officer who approached it. Police then discovered the vehicle, abandoned, a while later, and also discovered the driver not far from the incident. She has since been identified as 23-year-old Veronica Jagdeo, who is now facing a slew of charges.
The officer who received injuries after being struck was taken to the hospital with a variety of injuries but is expected to recover. The passenger in Jagdeo’s vehicle had an active warrant and has since been arrested and identified as 26-year-old Jason Mohammed.
Police are still investigating the accident at this time.
