Woodbury, NY – Person Struck by LIRR Train near Freeport
Woodbury, NY (February 26, 2019) – The Long Island Rail Road service was suspended after a person was reported to have been struck by a train on Tuesday, February 26. The incident was stated to have occurred around 4:00 p.m., west of the Freeport station, and temporarily closed down the Babylon Branch.
Emergency medical crews were immediately called to the scene, where they attended to one individual who had been hit by the train. The reason why the person was on the tracks is currently unknown; however, only one person is believed to have been on the tracks at the time of the accident.
Whether or not the victim was killed or injured has not been verified at this time, as the events surrounding the incident are currently under investigation. No further information has been made available.
