Hempstead, NY – Woman Killed in Accident with Hit-and-Run Driver on Westbury Boulevard

Hempstead, NY (February 26, 2019) – A fatal hit-and-run accident was reported to have taken place on Long Island Monday evening, February 25, according to authorities. Police stated that the deadly crash happened around 6:40 p.m. near Westbury Boulevard and Commander Avenue.

According to authorities, 56-year-old Maureen Benjamin had been walking in the vicinity of the aforementioned location when she was struck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle involved was stated to have left the scene immediately after the crash. Benjamin was reported to have been walking home at the time of the incident.

Emergency medical crews who arrived at the scene stated that Benjamin had suffered multiple injuries and was ultimately transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the events that led to this incident.
