New York Child Victims Act
As of February 19, 2019, victims of child sex abuse now have an extended time frame to come forward and report their abuse, thanks to the New York Child Victims Act. Before moving on, we would first like to extend our sincerest sympathies to the victim of the alleged abuser as we can only hope that she is able to recover from such a tragic experience.
Although the new laws allow victims more time to report abuse, it is important for victims to understand that there has been no change that makes it any easier to prove that abuse has occurred. This means that, while it can be understandably difficult, it can be essential for victims to take action as soon as they feel they are able, at which point, acquiring compassionate and experienced representation is the next step.
At Hach & Rose, our sexual abuse attorneys are devoted to helping the victims of our community recover from their abuse in any way we can. While financial compensation cannot erase the abuse, we feel that holding the criminal party accountable in every manner possible goes at least a short way toward mental and emotional recovery. If you have been the victim of child sex abuse of any kind, please call 212-779-0057 today.
