Water Mill, NY – Update: Identity of Person Killed in Crash on Montauk Highway Released
Water Mill, NY (February 19, 2019) – Police have confirmed details about the fatal motor vehicle accident that took place on Friday, February 15, on the Montauk Highway between a box truck and a Volvo, which resulted in the death of one person. The victim’s identity has now been released as 38-year-old Jennifer Russo, of East Hampton, and other details have now emerged.
Russo was the driver and sole occupant of the Volvo that crashed with a box truck at around 12:00 p.m. Original reports stated that there was a passenger in the box truck, but new information has confirmed that the driver, 53-year-old Thomas Infantolino, was the sole occupant.
The bulk of the original story focused on Infantolino and the weather conditions that prohibited him from being airlifted to a local hospital. Infantolino was ultimately taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital with serious leg injuries after being cut free from his crumpled vehicle. Following an investigation, authorities reported on Russo’s death while the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
